We are participating in the 2nd Annual BumbleBee Fund 5k Fun
Run/Walk on September 22, 2012 to help raise money for our daughter, Lexie!
Lexie is 11 years old. She was diagnosed with Autism at a
young age and battles with epilepsy and severe behavior outbursts. Lexie also has severe food
allergies and is on a very specific diet that is wheat/gluten/casin/dairy/egg
free. The cost to buy groceries is very high. For example, she drinks 1 quart
of goat milk a day, which costs us $32.00 a week. Lexie’s seizures and behavior
are so severe that it is unlikely that Vince will be able to return to work,
and Melissa is unable to work because of her fibromyalgia. We have been turned
away from six institutes that are unable to give Lexie the care and support
that she desperately needs. As parents of a child with special needs, it can be
challenging at times providing the best possible environment for our child on a
minimal household budget. We try to do
everything we can to support Lexie and
make sure that she receives every opportunity to continue her growth and
development.
The money that The BumbleBee Fund hopes to raise will go
towards helping Lexie and us on our journey. Thank you in advance for your
